Since the Nikon DF is so spankin’ new Capture One Pro can’t see the files, nor can OS X show you a preview. Basically the only way to see them is to install Nikon’s Viewer software which messes up my workflow. Turns out it’s a simple edit of the EXIF data that tricks the computer into thinking I shot it with my Nikon D4.
Then drag the folder containing the NEF files into the Terminal window. This will show up as text showing the path in the Terminal window.
Hit ENTER and wait for it to process. It will come up with an alert “Error: File not found - *.NEF” But if you look at the folder containing you NEF files you’ll notice they are suddenly getting previews, so let it run until you see a message like this:
1 directories scanned 899 image files updated 1 files weren’t updated due to errors
Then BOOM! You can see your files in Capture One, just like they were shot on your D4.
Hope that saves a few folks some time who purchased a lovely new Nikon DF.
